Dear February: I Need More Photo Inspiration

It’s the second month of Project 365, and the challenge of taking one photograph a day is getting more difficult. I think I’ve exhausted the photos of my animals, and I know I’ve already taken photos of all my trinkets at home. And I’m not sure how many more selfies I can take (the bathroom mirror has been part of my photos for at least three days of Project 365). I go through Flickr’s Explore pages all the time to try to find inspiration, and the inspiration is all there, but I’m having a hard time finding time to experiment with photography during the day. Oh, what am I to do?

It’s now February, and I’ve got to think of something different. I had planned to go out and walk around downtown during my lunch breaks back in January, but the icy weather sort of stopped my plans for photowalks around the city. I’m hoping that the weather warms up soon and quickly so I can get out of the office and have a chance to play with the camera some more.

Photojojo (PJ), one of my fave websites, has tips for how to handle Project 365. I’ve been trying to follow the tips, and I suppose the most important piece of advice from PJ is “Don’t Stop, No Matter What.”

This is perhaps the most important tip of all. You will get tired of taking a photo every single day. Some days, you will consider giving up. Don’t. The end result is worth the effort. Remind yourself why you wanted to do it in first place.

There will be times you’ll think there’s nothing interesting left to take a photo of, and times you’ll think you didn’t do anything exciting enough to take a photo of. There’s always a great photo to be made.

Get out of the house and take a walk. Or stay inside and look around. Take a photo of something important to you. Take a photo of the inside of your house so you can see how your taste has changed over the years. Take a photo of anything, just don’t stop.

Okay, so I’m not going to stop taking pictures, but I’m really in desperate need of ideas. I need photographic help and advice. I’m asking for a helping hand, a Project 365 mentor/buddy, that can motivate me and share ideas with different ways to experiment with the task of taking daily photographs. If you’re out there, please get in touch soon! I’ve got a load of charged camera batteries and memory cards waiting to be used!
